Early October Results

18.Oct.2011

Sparkling autumn weather draws the running world to start lines and Craftsbury runners have been “peddling their wares” as Coach Greg Wenneborg calls racing. The season is early with lots of the big races remaining on the schedule, but early results are trickling in.

Mike Patenaude went into September 25th’s Montreal Marathon on the hunt for a new PR of 3:03. It was not to be that day, as the hills and humidity got to him in the latter stages of the race. Careful race analysis revealed that he went out a trifle fast, and was battling dehydration. He still finished with his third best time ever of 3:16:45 and is now looking ahead to getting back on track in the New York City Marathon on November 6th.

Andie Davis was on the start line for the 35th annual Tufts 10k for Women in Boston on October 10th. Unseasonably warm weather was a boon for spectators but made racing the urban 10k an exercise in mindful determination for the 7000 women runners. Andie scored a finishing time of 45:57, placing her 6th of 784 in her 50-59 age group. She placed 142nd overall. Her post-race thoughts: “I ran a strong race despite the conditions. I just kept the power on, figuring that everyone else was working within the same conditions and that if I kept my head about me, I would place well in comparison to those who didn’t.” Andie will next be contesting a series of cross country races in New York’s Van Cortlandt Park.
