Our Staff
Craftsbury Sculling Center coaches include Olympians and former World Champions, as well as coaches of some of the most competitive universities, schools, and clubs from around the world. Heading up the CSC staff are these distinguished coaches:

Norm Graf, Director
A Craftsbury coach for more than 17 years, Norm began rowing in 1940. He rowed with the undefeated Culver Military Academy 8+ in 1943. His rowing career took a hiatus during World War II, but in '48 he returned to the sport as stroke and captain of the undefeated Rutgers University freshmen team. Kevin MacDermott, Senior Associate Director
Kevin joined the Craftsbury coaching staff in 2002 and began serving as a head coach for the sculling program in 2005. Outside of Craftsbury, Kevin is the Head Coach of Men's Rowing at Trinity College in Hartford, CT as well as the Head Sweep Coach for the United States Junior National Team. Ric Ricci, Associate Director
Ric has coached rowing for 36 years, including 27 at Craftsbury. He rowed at Trinity College in Connecticut, winning the 2- IRA National Championship in 1972 and '73. In '72 he competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials and the '71 and '73 Henley Royal Regatta. Ric is currently the men's coach at Connecticut College. He coached at Yale ... Read more.

Noel Wanner, Assistant Director
Noel learned to row at Wesleyan University and was a member of the U.S. National Team in 1992 and 1993 as a lightweight. He has coached at the college, club, and high school levels. Over the course of his rowing career, he has won national championships in the senior, elite, and master's categories. He is currently the head coach at Middlebury College.

Dan Roock, Director of Competitive Sculling
Coach Roock has been coaching for almost thirty years. His career started at Florida Institute of Technology, before extended involvement with Princeton University, including six years at the helm of the women's rowing program where the Tiger 1V went 59-2 in dual races with multiple EAWRC and National Championships. Troy Howell, Fleet Manager
Having coached in the sculling program for several seasons, Troy Howell joined the staff at the center on a full-time basis as our fleet manager in the spring of 2009. Pepa Miloucheva, Sports Physiologist and Director of Competitive Skiing
Pepa has been involved with sculling since 1998, initially as fleet manager and instructing stretching and core strength. This spring she has passed on her fleet management duties to head our in house exercise physiology testing.
