2012 Running Camps

Our 2012 schedule includes camps for runners of all abilities. Choose a particular theme or come the week that best fits your schedule. We have great fun while learning about all aspects of distance running and racing. Check-in for all camps will be from 2 to 4 P.M. Make reservations online or call the Craftsbury Outdoor Center at 802-586-7767.

Prices on the running vacations below are all inclusive: double occupancy room w/shared bath, delicious meals, coaching, sauna & all our facilities, one-on-one coaching consultations with our professional coaching staff, as well as optional field trips.

Minimum program deposit is $250.

Run2Scull, Scull2Run

June 10-15, 2012 / 6 Days - $980 - Are you a runner who is intrigued by rowing and wants to learn how to scull? Or perhaps you are a sculler who loves to run but can't imagine coming to Craftsbury and not getting out on Big Hosmer Pond. Either way, this camp allows you to use both your running shoes and your oars for some serious cross-training that will take both disciplines to new levels. Running & Yoga

June 17 - 22, 2012 / 6 Days - $980 - Yoga has always played big role in all our camps, but this offering strengthens that connection with daily yoga options. The yoga curriculum for the week will focus on increasing our range of motion, improving balance, rehabilitating injuries and opening tight places. On the track, trails, and roads, we'll cover a broad range of topics from specific workouts, form/technical considerations, broader training principles, strength, conditioning and lots more - all through the lens of applying our yoga lessons to our running, and vice versa. High School XC Running Camp

July 8 - 12, 2012 / 5 Days - $425 - Craftsbury Outdoor Center is pleased to announce its first ever cross country running camp for high schoolers. This camp offers 5 days and 4 nights of instruction. During the week, participants will enjoy track training, hill work, drills, fartlek and tempo work as well as a long run on the most beautiful loop in Vermont. Classroom presentations will include nutrition, training physiology, race day skills and more - all led by one of the greats of American running, Lynn Jennings. Marathon Week

July 15 - 21, 2012 / 7 Days - $980 - A great week of camp designed to prepare all levels of runners for their marathon. We cover all aspects of training from specific workouts, running form, training principles and the long run to nutrition strategies, core strength and stability, circuit training, and much more.

Coached sessions include a track workout, a structured hill workout, tempo and fartlek instruction. In addition to amazing trail running on our own campus and runs on the beautiful back roads of Vermont, a week at camp will give you inspiration and motivation for your upcoming marathon training and racing. This session often fills, so register soon!

Masters Week

July 22 - 28, 2012 / 7 Days - $980 - Our most popular offering. Come have great fun with the over-40 crowd while learning how to train progressively or simply rejuvenate your love of running. It's a relaxing Vermont vacation coupled with specific workouts on the hills and the track. Improve your running form, learn how to train intelligently and how to manage injuries. Learning smart nutrition strategies and working on core strength and stability in our circuit training sessions will keep you running healthy with motivation to spare. Running Camp

July 29 - August 4, 2012 / 7 Days - $980 - The week contains all the great activities listed in our other camps, tailored to the goals of the campers - whether marathon runners, ultra runners, general fitness runners or brand new runners. Last year we had runners of all abilities and experience levels at this week, learned a lot and had a blast. Come join us for this fun and inspiring week!

Foliage & Running Weekend

September 21 - 23, 2012 / 3 Days - $350 - Our running season ends with Foliage and Running sessions timed to coincide with the peak of Vermont's striking fall color. While there's never a bad time to visit the Center, autumn is spectacular in the Northeast Kingdom. The Center's trails are ablaze with color, Big Hosmer is warm for swimming, the air is crisp, striking fall color surrounds you, and additional opportunities to explore the region in the afternoons make these camps especially memorable.
