Brett Ely at Marathon Trials17.Jan.2012 Craftsbury coach Brett Ely toed the line in Houston for the Olympic Marathon Trials on January 14th. A slew of Craftsbury runners were on hand to cheer for Brett and wish her well before the race. With 8 weeks of preparation under her belt since the Pan Am Games, Brett was feeling ready to race well having made the best preparation she could. Under sunny skies and in crisp temperatures, Ely was looking smooth and fluid until the mid-stages of the race. Unfortunately, her recurring hip injury made itself known and she was forced to drop out. She said, “The hip issue was still present but I’m doing ok. It’s time now to finally get things fixed without the deadline of future races.” |
